Review: Supply & Demand

Hello everyone! I'm back with a review of Supply & Demand which was where I had dinner with an ex-colleague of mine one Friday evening after work.

Supply & Demand
277 Orchard Road #02-13/14
Orchard Gateway
Singapore 238858
Tel: 67026218
Opening Hours: 11:30am – 10:30pm (Mon-Sun)

Located at the newly opened Orchard Gateway, this restaurant is nestled in a corner of the mall. You should be able to find it relatively easy once you get there.
Anyway, we did make reservations prior but due to a horrible traffic jam on the CTE, it resulted in us being about 20 mins past our reservation timing.
Was fairly prepared to give up and go elsewhere for dinner as the waiting time is 10 mins if I'm not wrong but we decided to try our luck and heng ah we managed to get our table still :D

We were seated by the window area inside of the restaurant (they have an area outside of the main restaurant, within the mall space) and I have to say I'm impressed by the cosy and homely vibes this place gives off.
And thankfully the sky was still bright when we came so photos turned out quite nicely too!

The menu consists of 2 types of fare - Italian along with Asian and the usual appetizers and what not. My friend and I decided to order a side and pizza to share along with a main course each.
FAT DIE US. tskkkkkkk!

Garlic Truffle Fries

This is really da bomb! I have an obsession with anything truffle - if I see it on the menu, I have to order it without fail lol. And I'm pleased to say this wasn't overly doused with truffle oil or something. The fries are the chunky kind but the balance of garlic and truffle was amazing! I actually ate this the most outta all the food :P

Pollo E Piselli

Cheese infused cream sauce with chicken chunks, green peas, sun dried tomatoes and parsley

One thing I like about this place is that it offers their pasta as appetizers or as a main so you can choose which portion sizes you'd prefer. I went for the main because the waiter told me the appetizer '5 mouthfuls only' and the kiasu Singaporean in me went for the main course because it's only a difference of $4.
I regretted it! Because we over ordered everything and I got jelak after taking 2 mouthfuls (oops!). The sauce is flavourful don't get me wrong, I'm just not the usual cream sauce pasta kinda person.

Zi char style curry chicken

My friend ordered this based on online reviews. It was really nice and yummy! The curry sauce wasn't too spicy and I quite like it. I think I will order this if I ever visit this restaurant the next time around.

The Morning After 9" Pizza

Here's our 2nd food item to share lol. I know right, 2 girls eat a main course each, share a side and still order 1 pizza?! LOL but I have to say the pizza is really yummy!
Thin crust and baked to perfection, this was not difficult for us to eat despite having a main course each really.
But erh sadly, I was too filled to actually finish the whole pizza. We had about 2 slices leftover :(

Anyway, I had a great meal at Supply & Demand and I won't hesitate to come back because of the nice ambiance and food. Maybe I will ask the girls if they wanna go there and eat lol. I'm pretty sure Lirong is dying to come here (she did mention she really wants to come here to makan).
Do remember to reserve for a table ahead as the place gets really packed very quickly - by the time we left it was close to 7.45pm and the entire place was just bursting with patrons! - or you can always head to their other outlet at Esplanade Mall.
Ok, talk again bye! :D

Review: Shabu Sai (with a dash of rainbow)

I should come up with a series of foodie adventures with the colleagues because we've been having pretty awesome meals this past week lol.
And since I have no social life after work am too exhausted to head out after work to try new food places, I was happy to explore this Japanese hotpot place as suggested by one of my colleagues.

Dance & Review:Miam Miam @ Bugis Junction

As you all know I've been actively going for Kpop dance classes over the past couple of months. At least once a week la hor so better than nothing. Still perspiring and 'exercising' lol.
While I am not the best dancer, I like how dancing makes me feel - carefree with no restrictions. I used to be quite shy about dancing, I remember being super nervous when I first attended my first class at CJ. It was a SHINee combo class and Jojo was teaching 'Juliette'.
I was just perpetually self conscious of how ridiculous I would look like, just fumbling over the steps and not getting used to learning choreography.
After several years of going for classes on and off, now I have learnt to let it go *interjects 'Let It Go'* and lose myself in the music. Who cares if I cannot catch up or look stupid haha. The satisfaction I get from mastering a Kpop song really makes me very happy.
And it allows me to spend time with my friends which I like :)

So I attended a Kpop workshop last week at Seven Dance Studio. The ssaem (short form of 'teacher' in Korean) was Klime and the bff had attended his classes before while I was in Europe so while I have heard of him, I have never attended his classes before.
And that 1 hour really killed my thighs LOL! We were learning EXO's 'Overdose', not my first choice of song but it really is one of the latest songs released.
Wah, really pushed myself throughout that hour and I paid the price for it.
I couldn't walk the next day and only recovered a good 4 to 5 days later.

Oh wells, maybe that explains my perpetual hunger these days lol (simi logic pls). Anw, after the class, we were just camwhoring like mad >_<

Wae I no have makeup OTL

10.05.14: A Day To Remember

Wohoo super hardworking me! HAHAHA. More blog posts hahaha because the bf has gone back to Taiwan and I am free at nights (yes, no social life sad die me).
Sooooooo let's see, I had a very awesome Saturday 2 weeks ago :D It is so awesome that I am actually dedicating 1 whole entry to it leh.

I finished BTD class *open party poppers* *\O/* *\O/* *\O/*
Yes, despite it being such a pain on my joints and that horrible scorpion move lol I actually managed to get up during the filming of the video. Thank you Jojo for being such a good instructor! :D
I always enjoy going to her classes because of the way she teaches haha. And yeah thanks Wanjun for dragging me into this class. I think I sorta lost some weight but put it all back thanks to the snacking in the office, oops!

Isetan Scotts was having a Japan fair and I got to know that Koyudo brushes were for sale there! So having skipped out on them in February because I was dead broke then, I decided to go there with the bf after BTD class before my hair appointment.
And luckily I did! Because I met one of my favourite Youtubers :D You'll see below.

But first lemme talk about the Koyudo brushes booth,
The Koyudo brushes are really so soft! I had the opportunity to play with each brush and slowly decide which ones I wanted. Motako-san even laid out some blushes and powders for you to try on the brushes and see the effect for yourself, which is something I really like.
The Hakuhodo fair at Takashimaya which I went in March didn't have such services although the booth was packed with sales assistants to help you select your brush choices.

Here's what I went home with from the fair:
- Fu-pa 01 (black handle)
- Fu-pa 14 (brush in the box)
- PBT Liquid foundation brush (pink handle)
I also bought the brush cleanser to clean the Koyudo and Hakuhodo brushes - I figured since I spent so much money on the brushes, might as well maintain them in their pristine condition as possible.
And now for the final part of why I am so thankful I actually went to Koyudo at that time - meeting Rae from www.theaeviewer.com or Raeview on Instagram and Youtube!

So thankful to have finally met one of my 'idols' because she lives in the US and what are the odds that I would even be able to meet her ever, let alone in my own home country? :)
She has inspired me to really pursue high-ended makeup brands and I have always followed her Youtube videos and blog posts religiously. Rae was actually browsing through quietly at the Koyudo booth when I noticed her because I saw her tattoo around her wrist. And then it hit me that it was really her!
I mean, just that morning thanks to Instagram, I found out that she was actually in Singapore. I never thought that I would have the chance to meet her on the streets in Singapore because I'm quite the 'suay' person.
Ya, so anyway the bf egged me on to ask her for a picture because he saw me gushing like mad how much I really like Rae and I'm glad I did ask her for a photo op in the end.
Thanks once again Rae, hope to see you back in Singapore soon :D

Headed for our haircut with my usual hairstylist, Jaren. I have been a loyal customer of his since my poly days, wherever he goes like to different salons, I will definitely follow suit because I like how well he is able to cut my hair the way I like it.
The bf also needed a haircut so Jaren cut his first while I got my hair shampooed.

Did a hair treatment because of how badly damaged my hair is thanks to subjecting it to daily blow-drys.
Amazed by how soft my hair feels after the treatment lol. But alas, now that almost 2 weeks has passed, the damn humidity in our weather has killed it once again. Boo.

Happy with our haircuts and then the bf and the hairstylist actually went on to discuss Tower of Saviour. Apparently Jaren plays it as well omg. That game is the bane of my life! GRRRRRRRR.

Here's them exchanging IDs pffft

Passed by the LINE pop-up store outside Wisma Atria. I love LINE alot if you know me personally, it's the only app that I use with my close friends i.e. the bf and the gzbs and XZ+Carol. The stickers are to die for!! I wish they came out with Woodstock only stickers though, sure buy one me! LOL.

Anyway, the queue to enter the store was damn long but we still queued. Went out empty handed cos all the merchandise were damn expensive wtf! Took the pics with the mascot figures though so yay!
Dinner was at Koh Grill & Sushi Bar with Grace and Trevor. Plan was to go Sentosa initially but by the time I finished with my hair appointment it was almost 6pm so... nope, postponed till Vesak Day haha!

Ended the night with dessert at Haagen Daz. Went home to KO and still gushing about meeting Rae lol.
So yup, that's all about my epic Saturday! I need to cherish this memory man haha.
Alrighty, till the next entry bye :D

Review: Symmetry

The girls and I headed to Symmetry at Jalan Kubor after our filling dinner at Yoogane from my last entry.
Have heard raves about the truffle fries and waffles from friends as well as reviews online so I was excited for Symmetry's food ^^

Review: Yoogane Singapore

Hey all, I'm really excited to write this post because Yoogane finally opened a store in Singapore! :D
If you've read my Korea travelogue entry where I first experienced Yoogane's dakgalbi in Seoul, you'll know how much I actually love eating the food there.
I have been thinking of it alot since I returned from Korea. In fact, it is on my 'must eat' list for my next trip to Korea in tentatively Dec 2014.
I managed to satisfy my cravings on 1 May 2014 because I went to the SG outlet hahahaha!

Yup, closed eyes on purpose not

Yoogane
200 Victoria Street
#02-47/48
Bugis Junction
Singapore 188021
Opening Hours: 11:00 - 22:00

I found out only the day before through this article that was circulating on Facebook about Yoogane opening a branch in Singapore.
Excitedly tagged all my GZBs (gizibes or bad girls is Korean) to visit Yoogane soon and coincidentally, Stella and Sinhui and I were supposed to meet to cafe hop the next day which was Yoogane's first day of opening.
Ended up going to Yoogane instead lol. Talk about hardcore Korean fanatics huh lol.
Plan was to meet at 4pm to eat at an 'ulu' (slang for not common) timing to avoid the potential long queue. Was extremely full actually when I went there because I was with my BI friends prior to that but alas, foodie gods believe that we should empty our stomachs before having Korea's famous dakgalbi cos the restaurant was closed when we tried to go in.
They would only reopen at 6pm. Later found out it was because they ran out of ingredients and had to replenish stock lol. Ok can, I thought got lunch and dinner timing one haha. No ah, it's suppose to be open from 11am till 10pm all day long.

Group selca!

Came back at close to 6pm and the queue was in full force already. Thankfully managed to get seated quite quickly.
Now I am no food blogger so I cannot tell you the capacity of the restaurant but Yoogane Singapore is occupying the space which nydc used to be at in Bugis Junction and it's quite a huge space so should be plenty of tables for everyone. No need to queue for long hours or something.

Seated and ready to camwhore lol. Prelude of what to expect in Korea during Dec my friends! HEHEH.

Yoogane mascot

See what I mean? LOL I can only be so camwhorish when I'm with them.
Otherwise, I act very demure one lol.
That day super hardworking, brought my DSLR and polaroid camera out so that I could get some blog content hahaha /pats self on back/
Good job, Paula!

Anyway, on to ordering from the menu! Even then, still in full camwhore mode lol.
The menu was not as extensive as the Korean one, at least for the additional dishes to be added on to your main galbi dish. I couldn't remember about the rest of the main dishes at the Korean outlet but where is my pumpkin, WHERE???!!!!

Each table can sit up to 6 pax (saw a group of 6 squeezed into 1 table) but I guess the comfortable number would be 4 pax or less? I didn't notice if they had any longer tables but nevertheless it was comfortable for the 4 of us to sit at the table.
A very thoughtful touch from the staff are the 'bibs' provided which I believe is to be worn to prevent any oil from splattering onto your clothes.

We just simply put them on for photography's sake and afterwards, 3 of us except Jace took off the bibs. Because this girl forgot to do so lol. But it was weird for me at least to wear it. I mean since it's an open air area and the food is being cooked on a grill, I'll just have to deal with the oil splattering and the BBQ smells lingering all over my clothing and hair hahahaha.

I was also pleasantly surprised to be informed by the staff that the restaurant provides charging outlets and wire (iPhone and perhaps for Andriod phones too?) for their customers to charge their mobile phones.
Which... I promptly stuck the wire into my iPhone because woes of forgetting to bring out your portable charger meant passing the day with dangerous low levels of battery -.-"
Thanks for providing me with extra battery juice, Yoogane Singapore!! :D

There is also a self serve corner where you can get side dishes such as these.

I liked the kimchi the best actually! Really yummy.

And if you find this weird open area where you see the staff cooking food, it's actually meant for patrons who ordered different kinds of food i.e. if you and your friends wanted to try for instance different galbi items on the menu, they will only bring 1 item and cook it in front of you at your table's grill while the rest will be prepared by the staff at this corner.
So that it doesn't get contaminated I suppose hahaha. Otherwise..... rojak dakgalbi anyone? Heh.

Here's what we ordered that day:
  1. Yoogane's Chicken Galbi, $14.90 (Note: All the main items' prices are for 1 pax)
  2. Additional Fried Rice, $3.90
  3. Mozarella Cheese, $3.90
Yoogane's Chicken Galbi for 1 pax lol

I have to say that we totally didn't think it was for 1 pax at all, we just ordered. Only when the food came did we realise how small the portion was LOL! But nvm, just cook first. We later on added another portion of the Yoogane Chicken Galbi.

So added on another portion of Yoogane's Chicken Galbi and the staff fried it together with the mozarella cheese and fried rice.

Taking the ladle because the bff wanted to take a pic of the rice

Mix mix mix....

Add the cheese at the bottom of the pan...

Mix the rice in..

And voila, cheesy fried rice wohoooooo

Cheesy goodness ^^

What's my verdict of Yoogane Singapore?
I enjoyed it. Tremendously!
Yes, portions were smaller compared to the Korean outlets (this is Singapore, what do you expect man) and more expensive (SGD$14.90 versus 8,000KRW for 1 person portion) but the fact that you didn't have to fork out money for an air ticket to Korea and that the food tastes relatively similar to the Korean one is a plus point already.
AND THEIR SERVICE IS VERY GOOD!!! Kudos to the staff for being so nice and polite to us. I only have 2 thumbs so I'm gonna give you 2 thumbs up for being able to handle the crowd so well on your opening day! :))
You have no idea how I abhor restaurants who provide shitty customer service then proceed to charge us 10% extra for customer service. Simi gui logic is this?! Pffffft. (Yes, talking about you famous Japanese ramen joint @ Mohamed Sultan)
They asked us how the food fared and whether it was to our liking and also what other things could be taken into consideration to improve their service etc.
I told the staff that I'd really hope to see pumpkin added on to the menu so I can recreate the dakgalbi I had in Korea last year HAHAHAHA. I am pretty sure Lirong will agree with me on this (fellow pumpkin lover lol).

UOB cardholders also received 10% off our food bill so we managed to get a 10% discount off our bill.
I think given time the Yoogane Singapore outlet will definitely receive all the love like the Korean Yoogane outlets if they maintain their food and service standards.
So please please please maintain... and add pumpkin to your add-ons please! :P

I had a good time there Yoogane Singapore, thank you for making my 3rd meal of Labour Day such an awesome one.
Of course, good company helped too :D
Do note that the outlet does not take any phone reservations so tables are on a first come first served basis.
So till my next entry,  annyeong!
